The Nelson police are responding to reports of a body being found in Stoke, south of Nelson.
A member of the public has reported finding the body at a house in Marlowe Street.
Tasman police spokeswoman Barbara Dunn told RNZ News details were sketchy, and the identity of the person and cause of death were not known.
