The Commerce Commission has confirmed it is planning to raise the amount Chorus can charge for the use of its copper lines.

The regulator says the prices are similar to those in its draft decision last December, with phone retailers paying $38.43 cents a month for the use of Chorus' network for phone and broadband services, an increase of nearly $4.
The commission was proposing gradual increases over four years, rather than a flat rate increase.
Chorus said the draft pricing still significantly undervalued the true cost of network investment in New Zealand.
Retailer Spark said it was disappointed the commission was still proposing a significant increase in wholesale line charges.
Submissions on the changes were due by the middle of next month.
