Some ANZ customers have had to leave their groceries behind at supermarkets and have been unable to pay their restaurant bills because of a technical problem with the bank.
ANZ said some people had been having problems with EFTPOS cards, internet banking, ATMs and the bank's goMoney app since 8pm.
The app and internet banking are now working again, the bank said.
Several customers took to the company's Facebook page to complain, saying they had to leave trolleys of groceries behind; others said they were stranded at restaurants because they could not pay their bills.
The bank apologised and said its technical team was working frantically to fix the problem.
The glitch comes on the same day ANZ reported a slight lift in its annual profit to $1.77 billion.
We are aware some customers may currently be unable to use Internet Banking, goMoney and eftpos services. We are investigating this now.
