The New Zealand sharemarket was up 33 points, or 1%, to 3309 at the close of trade on Tuesday on turnover of $77.2 million.
Fletcher Building gained 8 cents to $8.42 per share, Telecom was up 8c to $2.24, but Contact Energy fell 4c to $6.43.
Air New Zealand rose 7c to $1.38, and Auckland International Airport was up 3c to $2.
Fisher & Paykel Appliances was up 1c to 64c, while Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was 2c higher at $3.28.
Infratil gained 4c to $1.74 after finalising the purchase of Shell's downstream assets.
New Zealand Oil and Gas was up 4c to $1.58, but New Zealand Refining fell 18c to $3.80
The Warehouse gained 2c to $3.80.
The sharemarket was closed on Monday for a public holiday.
