The Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) is to get a new local chief executive.
Dan Huggins, the BNZ's current executive for customer, products, and services, will replace Angie Mentis in October.
BNZ chairperson Doug McKay said "Dan is an exceptional leader with deep experience in banking and a focus on delivering outstanding outcomes for our customers. He has played a key role in developing our existing strategy and I look forward to seeing our momentum continue".
The board was pleased to make an internal appointment, McKay said.
Huggins, originally from New Plymouth, has been with BNZ since March last year, but has 20 years experience in banking, retail, and manufacturing, including spells with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the ASB, consultancy McKinsey & Company, and Fonterra.
Mentis, who headed the BNZ since 2018, is returning to its parent, the National Australia Bank, to a new role heading its digital, data and analytics operations.
NAB Group chief executive Ross McEwan said Mentis had been a "tremendous" head of the BNZ during a period of significant change.
"Angie has brought a real focus on delivering for customers and helped spearhead BNZ's investment in digital services and tools."
