An independent review into SkyCity's Adelaide casino has been put on hold until the completion of court proceedings against the same casino.

In July last year, the South Australian liquor and gambling commissioner appointed retired Supreme Court judge, Brian Martin KC, to undertake an independent review into the suitability of SkyCity Adelaide.

The report was due back to the commissioner by the start of February this year.

However, in a share market announcement, SkyCity said it was informed by the South Australian gaming regulator that the review had been put on hold pending the resolution of civil penalty proceedings filed by the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (Austrac) in December 2022.

The court proceedings against SkyCity Adelaide related to alleged breaches of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws in Australia.

SkyCity said it had been advised that Brian Martin KC "was of the view until the resolution of the proceedings it is not possible to determine reliably the question of suitability".

The South Australian liquor and gambling commissioner said he was considering his options regarding any action he should take while the independent review was on hold.
