Wary markets expected to rally

World share markets are expected to rally following progress towards resolving the Eurozone debt crisis, though investors are likely to remain wary of any ructions that may disrupt it.

The Dow Jones Index closed up 260 points on Friday at 12,154. The Nasdaq Composite was up 54 points at 2679.

In Europe: the FTSE 100 in London rose 1.9%, the CAC-40 in Paris was up 2.7% and the DAX in Frankfurt was up 3.2%.

The Nikkei index in Tokyo rose 14 points to 8514.

The Australian 200 Index was up 52 points, or 1.2%, to 4297 and the NZX 50 was up 3 points, or 0.1%, to close at 3322.

At 8.25am on Monday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 78.77 US cents, 76.50 Australian cents, 48.97 pence, 60.75 yen and 0.5712 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 68.86.

Brent crude oil was trading at $US115.43 per barrel and gold was trading at $US1787.33 per ounce.
