New Zealand women's sevens player Ruby Tui has been hospitalised with the mumps on the Sunshine Coast, but she's in a stable condition and no one else in the team has contracted the virus.
Tui and the rest of the Black Ferns Commonwealth Games team have been in isolation and have delayed their arrival to the athletes village on the Gold Coast.
Chef de Mission Rob Waddell says the team remains on track to join the village on Sunday, though Tui won't be with them.
"There's an athlete who has been ill (Tui) and has been transferred to a hospital on the Sunshine Coast and that's something we continue to monitor closely. We understand she's in a stable condition and our medical staff are up there to ensure her well-being."
Waddell wouldn't confirm if Tui has been ruled out of the Games but she's all but certain to miss the event, which starts on Friday week.
Waddell said the Black Ferns Sevens team remain in good spirits despite being the situation.
He said the team has been surrounded by support and they're taking it in their stride.
"We've had doctors up there, we've also had our head sport psychologist as well and the feeback we've had is that they've been pleased to know all the information and understand it and know what's going on and they're feeling positive about things."
Waddell concedes the team's preparation has been disrupted, though he confirmed they've still be able to train.
"I'm not exactly sure of the detail of how they've been training and what they've been doing but I understand they have been able to train and carry on," Waddell said.
