Malawi are in celebration mode after a historic 57 to 53 win over the Silver Ferns on the Gold Coast.
The Malawi Queens broke out into dance mid-court at full-time after a loss against Uganda set them back toward any hope of a medal.
This is their first ever win against the New Zealand side and the Silver Ferns first loss at the Commonwealth Games.
The Ferns will have a chance to redeem the result when they play Scotland tomorrow before their final pool match against new rivals England on Wednesday.
Silver Ferns captain Katrina Grant said the team struggled to get the ball on defence.
"We didn't treasure it when we did get ball. We were chucking careless ball away on attack."
"Under pressure we need to be able to score off our ball and just really be patient," she said.
"There's a few youngsters who are still learning. This is their first time here at the Commonwealth Games."
