The new Parliament will meet for the first time on 20 December for the swearing-in of MPs and the election of the Speaker.
The state opening will be held the following day, when the Governor-General comes to Parliament House to formally open the 50th Parliament.
He will deliver the Speech from the Throne which sets out the Government's legislative plans.
