Light scored a unanimous points decision over a Kenyan opponent in the quarter-finals of the 91-kilo class.
He'll take on Scot Stephen Lavelle in the semi-finals on Saturday morning.
Bowyn Morgan was beaten in a split decision in his 69-kilo quarter-final by Englishman Scott Fitzgerald, while Magan Maka was beaten in her 75-kilo quarter-final by Canadian Ariane Fortin.
