The Australia netball team has soundly beaten New Zealand 58-40 to win the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
The Australians were dominant throughout, while the Silver Ferns struggled at both ends of the court.
The coach Waimarama Taumaunu says the difference between the two teams was the accurate and confident shooting by the Australians, in contrast to New Zealand which has been on the backfoot through injuries being carried by their key shooters, Cathrine Latu and Maria Tutaia.
Taumaunu says the team is extremely disappointed at the loss, and their performance, but the Australians deserved praise for an impressive showing right through the match.
She says while it's better to get a silver than a bronze, or even nothing, that seems like small recompense at the moment.
