New Zealand kayakers Steven Fergusson and Darryl Fitzgerald have missed out on a medal in K2 1000m final at the London Olympics.
After a slow start, the pair fought back hard to finish with a bunch of crews and were unlucky not to place fourth on Wednesday. They finished seventh at the Eton Dorney course in 3min 12.117s - a New Zealand record.
Hungary's Rudolf Dombi and Roland Kokeny won the gold medal in 3min 09.646s, pipping Portugal's Fernando Pimenta and Emanuel Silva, who had to settle for silver in 3min 09.699s.
Germany's Martin Hollstein and Andreas Ihle took the bronze in 3min 10.117s.
Other teams competing were from Australia, Sweden, Russia and Slovakia.
In the B final, Denmark's Kim Wraae and Emil Staer won in 3min 12.820s, beating teams from Belgium, Kazakhstan and Canada.
Meanwhile, Norwegian kayaker Eirik Veras Larsen won the K1 1000m final on Wednesday in 3min 26.462s on Wednesday.
Adam van Koeverden from Canada took silver (3min 27.170s), while Germany's Max Hoff took bronze (3min 27.759s).
In the B final, Cuba's Jorge Antonio Garcia won in 3min 29.938s. New Zealand's Ben Fouhy was sixth, in a time of 3min 34.710s.
In the women's K4 500m event, the Hungarian team of four won gold in 1min 30.827s, Germany took silver (1min 31.298s) and Belarus claimed bronze in (1min 31.400s).
In the canoe C1 1000m final, Germany's Sebastian Brendel won gold in 3min 47.176s, David Cal Figueroa from Spain took silver (3min 48.053s), while bronze went to Canadian Mark Oldershaw (3min 48.502s).
