The police in Christchurch are appealing for witnesses to a vicious and unprovoked assault outside a pizza restaurant last weekend.
Constable Patti Brown says three people needed hospital treatment after being attacked by a group of five people outside Dominos Pizza on Lincoln Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.
One of the victims needed surgery.
Constable Brown says the attackers left in a silver Toyota van after members of the public intervened.
