Hundreds of people have farewelled veteran broadcaster Phillip Leishman in central Auckland.
Mr Leishman, 61, was diagnosed with a brain tumour a year ago. It was removed, but the cancer subsequently returned and he died on Monday.
His family and friends, including fellow broadcasters and well-known sports people, attended the funeral at St Patrick's Catholic church on Friday afternoon.
His warm and inclusive on-air personality made Phillip Leishman one of the most popular broadcasters in New Zealand television over the past four decades.
He spent the last 15 years of his career presenting and producing The Golf Show on Sky Television, interviewing the world's top players including Tiger Woods and Ernie Els at courses and venues across the globe.
In 2011, he was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to broadcasting and the community.
Philip Leishman is survived by his wife Michelle and three children.
