Fonterra has launched what it calls its greatest innovation - a light-blocking milk bottle designed to stop milk spoiling.
The recyclable Anchor packaging has three layers to block out the light.
The company said taste testers have not been able to taste the difference between 15-day-old milk in the new bottles and fresh milk straight off the production line.
Managing director of Fonterra Brands, Peter McClure says milk starts spoiling as soon as it is exposed to light, which is when it is bottled.
He hopes the new packaging will boost New Zealand's consumption of milk.
The bottles will be on the supermarket shelves from 8 April.
