A man has been killed in an industrial hedge trimming accident in North Canterbury.
He was Nigel David Spackman, 34, of Culverden.
The incident occurred while he was working on Leader West Road, about 4km from Waiau on Thursday morning.
Police say initial inquiries indicate that Mr Spackman walked in front of the hedge trimmer's blade which was still operating and suffered serious head injuries.
Work colleagues tried to resuscitate him, but he died at the scene.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
