A woman has appeared in court after a man was shot in West Auckland on Friday.
Police were called to a house in Sabulite Road in the suburb of Kelston at 11:25pm on Friday, where a 39-year old-man had been shot in the chest. Officers later recovered a 22 calibre rifle.
A woman, 39, has been charged with common assault and remanded in custody without plea.
The man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital. A 19-year-old woman who was in the house during the incident was unhurt.
The police are not releasing names in connection with the case.
