Evacuations after gas line cut

3:09 pm on 6 March 2014

One person has been taken to hospital and people have been evacuated following a gas leak at a New Plymouth building demolition site, after workers severed a gas line.

Office workers, retailers and shoppers on Gill Street between Liardet Street and Gover Street have been evacuated.

The Fire Service says the leak has been shut off, and gas detectors will be used to check nearby shops and offices before people are allowed back in.
