The former chief executive of a finance company which collapsed owing close to $8 million has died.
Nicholaas Wevers from Viaduct Capital died in Auckland on Wednesday.
Mr Wevers had been facing charges of theft in a special relationship and making false statements which carry maximum sentences of seven and 10 years in jail.

The charges against Mr Wevers have been withdrawn. Five co-accused will appear in court in May.
