The man charged with the murder of Auckland woman Cissy Chen has been refused bail.
The lawyer for Yun Qing Liu, Mark Wotherspoon, presented the bail application to the High Court at Auckland on Friday morning.
Two of Mr Liu's employers and his niece were at the hearing to support him.
Last month Mr Liu entered a not guilty plea over the killing of Ms Chen, who was 44.
She was missing for 17 months before her remains were found in Totaravale Park on the North Shore in March.
Mr Liu reported her missing in November 2012, saying she had not returned from a walk on the beach.
The Bail Act precludes reporting legal arguments and the reasons why Mr Liu's bail application was rejected.
His trial starts in October.
