Wellington Regional Council member Nigel Wilson says he would support a review of the fluoridation of the region's water supply.
About 20 people opposed to mandatory water fluoridation made public submissions on Tuesday on the regional council's draft annual plan.
Upon listening to their views, Mr Wilson said he would completely support a tribunal being set up to examine the issue for the region.
He said the council would be irresponsible not to be involved in initiating such a review.
Because Wellington's water supply is shared, Mr Wilson said most individual councils do not have the ability to opt out of fluoridation.
