Christchurch's Hagley Oval is one step closer to hosting the opening match of the Cricket World Cup next year, with the completion of the roof on the stadium's pavilion.
The pavilion itself is due to be finished in September, before New Zealand play Sri Lanka in the opening match on 14 February.
Canterbury Cricket chief executive Lee Germon said he is delighted to see the world class venue coming to fruition.
Canterbury will also host the opening ceremony of the World Cup tournament.
