The High Court has overturned some bylaws put in place by the Thames Coromandel Council to regulate freedom camping.
The Council was taken to Court earlier this year by the Motor Caravan Association, which said the bylaws were draconian and seriously restricted where and when its members could camp.
In today's decision, Justice Cooper has ruled that two clauses of the council's bylaw, including one restricting the places motorhomes could park, should be revoked.
He also ruled that amendments made to the Thames Coromandel Freedom Camping Bylaw on 13 March and 27 November 2013 were unlawful and quashed them.
