Statistics New Zealand figures reveal that more people are staying in paid holiday accommodation.
They show that nationwide, this number was 5.9 percent higher in November than a year earlier.
In the North Island, the statistic rose 4.5 percent, while in the South Island the increase was 8.1 percent.
Eleven of the 12 regional areas had increases.
The biggest contribution came from foreign tourists.
