More bad weather is expected this weekend, with snow forecast to low levels in the south and heavy rain likely in central New Zealand.
MetService duty forecaster Rob Kerr said a complex low would sweep across the North Island and upper parts of the South Island, bringing heavy rain and strong wind.
"Just about everywhere in the country's going to be affected over the course of the weekend," he said.
It follows bad weather throughout the week, with torrential downpours causing flooding in Auckland and heavy snow in the eastern North Island around Gisborne.
A cold front is also expected to bring snow to Southland and Canterbury before moving up the country, with snowfalls for the Desert and Rimutaka Hill Roads.
