7:20 pm on 21 October 2008

Fire safety officers are investigating fires in Auckland which caused two buildings to be evacuated on Tuesday.

The Fire Service says a fire in the roof of a packaging factory in west Auckland has been put out.

About 40 firefighters were called to the blaze at Huhtamaki factory in Henderson.

The Fire Service says workmen were cutting pipes near where the fire started, but the blaze is not thought to be suspicious.

A factory worker was treated for smoke inhalation.

A fire at Pukekohe Railway Station has also been extinguished. The blaze started in a switch room at 11am and affected the top floor of the building.

There were delays to both railway lines.
