An elderly Hastings man is in hospital with serious injuries following a home invasion early this morning.

The 77-year-old was assaulted by two women who broke into his house and then stole his car, at about 12.30am.
Police are asking people to keep an eye out for the car, a green and silver 1996 Toyota Carib station-wagon.
