A man accused of killing his son at a rural Hawkes Bay settlement has made a brief appearance in the High Court at Wellington by video link.

Dean Cole is charged with murdering 42-year-old Blair Cole, who was fatally shot last month at a rural property in Mohaka, near Wairoa.
Mr Cole, 62, entered no plea to the charge.
He was remanded in custody to reappear in court in February next year.
It was his second appearance in court after he appeared Gisborne District Court last month.
