Three international warships are in Wellington harbour to be thanked by the New Zealand government for their role in Kaikoura earthquake recovery efforts.
The USS Sampson, HMAS Darwin and HMCS Vancouver joined the New Zealand frigate Te Kaha and tanker Endeavour in the harbour this morning.
The HMNZS Canterbury is still taking evacuees from Kaikoura to Lyttelton.
Government representatives were set to meet the commanding officers of the ships.
After, the ships are expected to head to Auckland to continue the NZ navy's 75th anniversary celebrations.
