A man has been charged over the near-fatal stabbing of a taxi driver in South Auckland on Friday.
Alexander Ershov, a 23-year-old from Russia, suffered wounds to his upper body, during the attack which took place at Bertrand Road in the suburb of Mt Wellington.
A 31-year-old Papakura man will appear in Auckland District Court on Thursday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and aggravated robbery.
Police say Mr Ershov was taken off a ventilator on Monday and has been making good progress in Auckand Hospital.
