Firefighters have spent at least two hours cleaning up a large nitric acid spill in west Auckland.
The Fire Service was alerted about a forklift piercing a container at MP Biomedicals on Waipareira Avenue in Henderson just before 3pm.
A large amount of acid from the container, which was big enough to hold at least 200 litres, spilled out onto the road, the service said.
Crews wearing protective gear were sent to neutralise it.
Fire Service spokesperson Scott Osmond said two MP Biomedicals staff had to be treated by paramedics at the scene for fume inhalation.
