Three people have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash that has closed State Highway 1 on the Kapiti Coast.
The crash happened near the intersection with Otaki Gorge road about 10am.
Police say one of injured people is in critical condition, another is in a serious condition and the third is in a moderate condition.

State Highway 1 is closed between Addington Road and Otaki Gorge.
Police said the section of road was shut to allow two helicopters to land and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Detours are in place.
