Two people were hit by pellets after a shot was fired during a robbery in Whakatane this afternoon.
Police said the alleged robbery was at Julian's Berry Farm and Cafe in Huna Road about 1.30pm.
Two people were hit by pellets after a firearm was reportedly discharged towards the floor.
The cafe posted on Facebook the shop would reopen tomorrow.
"There were a few people with minor injuries after a shot was fired. But we are all OK.
"Shop closed for the rest of the day ... there is a bullet hole in the floor of the cafe."
A St John spokesperson said they were called to the area and have treated two people for minor injuries.
A hospital spokesperson said two women, aged 45 and 46, were being treated.
The police's Armed Offenders Squad attended.
