A car found submerged in water near a Nelson wharf yesterday might be linked to the disappearance of a young man who has not been seen in seven years.
Leo Lipp-Neighbours, who was 19, was last seen leaving a friend's house on 24 January 2010, driving his bright orange Toyota Corolla station-wagon.
A car was discovered on the sea floor near Wakefield Quay in Nelson yesterday afternoon, and police are hoping to recover the vehicle for inspection today.
Police are looking into who owned the vehicle, and said they were checking to see whether it could be Mr Lipp-Neighbours' vehicle, which was never found.
Police said they had spoken to members of his family about the discovery.
