One person has been killed in a car crash in Westland.
Police said two people were in the single car that crashed on the Otira Highway, between Jacksons and Hohonu, just before 4pm.
One person died at the scene while the second was airlifted to Grey Base Hospital.
The road had reopened but the serious crash unit was continuing to investigate, police said.
