One person has died after a truck and a vehicle crashed on State Highway 1, at Karapiro near Cambridge this morning.
Police were called to the crash between Karapiro Road and Gorton Road just before 4.30am.
A St John spokesperson confirmed one person died at the scene.
The highway is closed between Victoria Road and Maungatautari Road and a 30 minute detour is in place.
