Firefighters are battling a massive house fire on the Kāpiti Coast, north of Wellington.
Waikanae residents posting on Facebook say the blaze on Tutere Street is visible for miles around.
A Fire Service spokesperson said there were seven trucks and one tanker fighting the blaze.
He said the fire was so large that it had spread to two neighbouring properties, but those were now out.
There are no reported injuries.
