The winner of the South Island's biggest ever Lotto prize has come forward.
The Central Otago player, who bought their ticket online for Wednesday night's draw, has claimed the $22.3 million win.
The prize is made up of $22 million from Lotto's Powerball first division and $333,000 from Lotto first division.
A Lotto spokesperson said they had a brief conversation with the winner and would talk to them again this morning.
The spokesperson was unable to say where in Central Otago the winner was from, as the Lotto website only reveals the region of people who purchase their ticket online.
As well as being the biggest prize claimed in the South Island, it is the largest prize won so far this year.
