Armed police are still searching for the people who shot dead a man in Whanganui.
Police believe both the offenders and the victim of the attack at the Castlecliff house yesterday morning have links or associations to gangs.
"The victim, a 27-year-old man, and the offenders are known to each other and are known to police," Detective Inspector Ross McKay said in a statement.
He said the investigation team had strong leads on where the killers might be and he did not believe there was any extra risk to the public.
Officers have been brought in from Manawatu and Taranaki to help in the investigation.
Mr McKay urged people not to be alarmed by the extra police presence.
A police cordon remains at the Puriri Street house.
