A teenager has appeared in the Porirua Youth Court charged with arson following a fire at Kmart last Friday afternoon.
The fire was located in the party supplies area, where a rack containing pinatas had been set alight.
A sprinkler contained the fire to a small area.
Shoppers in North City Shopping Centre were evacuated for a short time and no one was injured.
The 15-year-old was arrested last night and appeared in court today.
