Authorities are trying to piece together more information about a Christmas Day stabbing.
Police said a 16-year-old was stabbed on his upper body and leg on Awatapu Drive in Whakatane about midnight.
He was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
Police are appealing for more information about the incident.
