Former National Party Minister Nikki Kaye has died at the age of 44, after a long battle with cancer.
Colleagues have praised Kaye, who was involved with National from 1999 and was deputy leader under Todd Muller, for her "caring heart", "ferocious energy" and ability to reach across the political aisle.
Kaye had openly spoken about her health before retiring from Parliament.
