The Napier-Taupo Road is shut at Rangitaiki after a serious crash involving two cars.

One lane on the main road between Napier and Taupo is blocked.
The Serious Crash Unit has been notified and two helicopters have been sent to the area.
Police said the incident happened at about midday.
The serious crash unit is investigating.
