Police believe a man stabbed in the Auckland suburb of Panmure last night knew his attacker.
Police were called to reports of a fight on Tripoli Road at 11pm yesterday.
The stabbed man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Auckland hospital, where he is now in a stable condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Brand said the offender fled the scene soon after the man was stabbed and had not been found.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
