One person has been seriously injured in a crash that is causing major traffic disruption on State Highway One, in Horowhenua.
The crash between a cyclist and vehicle happened near Gleeson Rd, south of Manakau township, and was reported to the police around 3.30pm.
Police say one person was seriously injured, and they are working at the scene.
Motorists are asked to delay travel in the area as traffic is backed up between Levin and Otaki.
Diversions are in place for small vehicles, which are moving slowly. But the diversions are unsuitable for trucks, and police are asking truck drivers to avoid the area, as there will be significant delays.
The only alternative route for heavy vehicles, is a long detour through the Wairarapa.
Meanwhile, a person hit by a truck in Northland on Friday has died.
The police were called to just north of Houhora on State Highway One at about 3:15pm. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
