A large blaze on the roof of a restaurant in central Wellington at the corner of Cuba St and Vivian St is now under control.

Fire and Emergency have confirmed the blaze was not on the roof of Logan Brown but the neighbouring El Matador restaurant.
A spokesperson said it was now under control and the cause of the fire would be investigated.

Seven trucks, two aerial appliances and support vehicles were called to the scene at the corner of Cuba St and Vivian St.
Both roads that were earlier cordoned off are now open.

More than seven crews fought the fire on the corner of the two streets.
There is a strong smell of smoke and two crews attacked the fire from above on extension ladders.
