Haast Pass is due to re-open soon following an early morning closure because of wild weather overnight.

The road connecting Wanaka to Westland has been closed while work crews clear slips and fallen trees.
Surface flooding has also caused problems on State Highway 6 between Haast and Fox Glacier.
SH63 between Saint Arnaud and Blenheim remains closed for now due to flooding.
Motorists are asked to use SH6 instead.
Throughout Canterbury, strong winds are making life difficult for those in campervans, towing caravans and for motorcyclists.
