Firefighters in the Far North are continuing their efforts to extinguish a large scrub fire on the Karikari Peninsula that has been burning since Thursday.
About 130ha of scrub has been destroyed by the blaze, believed to have been started after a car hit a power pole near Lake Ohia on Thursday.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control yesterday, but are still working to fully extinguish it.
Residents of four homes on Ramp Road have returned to their properties after being evacuated.
A fire ban was put in place for the area last month, because of tinder dry conditions.
