International passengers at Auckland Airport are facing delays today after a baggage handling system fault on one of the busiest days of the year.
In the last hour, the airport warned passengers of a technical fault. It has confirmed that technical glitch has now been resolved.
So far, 15 flights were impacted after check-in desks got busier than usual.
"Check-in and security screening is currently busier than normal and our team and Aviation Security are working hard to minimise delays for travellers," an Auckland Airport spokesperson said.
Passengers were asked to contact their airline for more information.
"It is a busy day at the airport and we thank travellers for their patience. If you're travelling today, please contact your airline for further information. Currently, one flight is experiencing delays."
@AKL_Airport hey Auckland airport why can’t open up all the check in counters? Absolutely ridiculous that thousands of people are stuck waiting while you guys can’t be bothered to open up counters. pic.twitter.com/Y2Mp1efDuI

Earlier this month international flights from Auckland were delayed and flights from Australia cancelled after Immigration New Zealand's passport processing software experienced outages, delaying flight check-ins.
